PH173 Flat Topcoat Waterbased Acrylic 30ml is an acrylic varnish from Armored Komodo with a matte finish for your painting projects.

Like surface primers, topcoats play a vital role in your painting projects by protecting and sealing the underlying paint layers.
Just like your choice of surface primers, topcoat results can also vary depending on the finish you want to achieve.

Armored Komodo recommends using a Gloss finish over metallic paints and ChromaFlairs.
An even shinier finish can be achieved using ArKom’s Mirror Gloss polish. The Gloss varnish thus acts as a layer protecting and fixing the pigments in place to maintain their shine.

Armored Komodo Notes on Acrylic Varnishes:

• PH174 Water-based gloss – for hand and airbrushing, not pre-diluted (recommended ratio 1:1). Topcoat for Chromaflair pigments and gloss finishes. Available in 30ml bottles
• PH173 Flat Topcoat (matte) water-based – for hand brushing and airbrushing, not pre-diluted (recommended ratio 1:1). Topcoat for matte finishes. Available in 30ml bottles

SPECIAL NOTICE: Can be safely repainted with ArKom lacquers! This is provided that you no longer tamper with ArKom pre-tinned lacquers. So if you want an extra shiny result, apply our Mirror Gloss over our Waterbased Gloss Topcoat. If you want to do some weathering, you can apply our Lacquer Flat Topcoat to protect everything and then start working with enamels even if you used water-based acrylics as a base. This goes against the tradition of not painting lacquers over water-based acrylics, but in the interest of product innovation we are introducing this possibility to the world. Not to mention that the ability to paint lacquers over water-based paints has many useful applications. This simplifies things.
